ICEA Future Leaders Fund

All of ICEA’s scholarships are funded by the ICEA Future Leaders Fund. We welcome donations, big or small, from anyone who wishes to support our volunteers in becoming future leaders. 

Scholarship & Financial Aid

ICEA supports our members’ growth and achievements through two types of scholarships: Merit-Based Scholarships and College Scholarships for Volunteers. These scholarships are part of our mission to encourage academic excellence, leadership, and long-term community engagement.

Merit-Based Scholarships

This scholarship recognizes outstanding performance by ICEA members who demonstrate excellence during participation in ICEA-hosted or affiliated programs.

Eligibility:
Open to all active ICEA members who receive a distinguished award or perform at an exceptional level at an ICEA event or partner competition.

Examples of Qualifying Achievements:

  • Winning a champion in ICEA-hosted Superstate Championship
  • Winning a national award in Math Kangaroo or other academic competitions

  • Receiving a top prize in ICEA-hosted chess tournaments

  • Demonstrating extraordinary talent in enrichment programs or public performances

Award Amount:
Varies depending on the event and level of achievement. Awards may be applied toward ICEA program fees or used to support continued participation.

College Scholarships

ICEA values the dedication of student volunteers who contribute meaningfully over time. This scholarship supports those who have shown sustained commitment and leadership within our programs.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a high school senior (or college-bound student)

  • Must have volunteered with ICEA for at least two years

  • Must have demonstrated leadership, reliability, and community impact through volunteer roles

Examples of Qualifying Roles:

  • Event planning and coordination

  • Tutoring and mentoring younger students

  • Video production, editing, or newsletter writing

  • Leading service projects or cultural events

Award Amount:
College scholarship amounts vary based on individual contribution, availability of funds, and community impact. Scholarship decisions are made annually by the ICEA board.

Financial Aid for Robotics Program

This financial aid is for supporting passionate and motivated students by covering the cost of robotics program tuition fees. 

About:

This financial aid is provided through the ICEA Future Leaders Fund and was specifically fundraised by Derek Chen's VEX V5 team (1629X). Derek Chen volunteered as a robotics coach at ICEA and initiated this effort to help expand access to the robotics program, especially for children from underprivileged communities in Los Angeles.

Who can apply:
Any student with a strong interest in Robotics and STEM, who meets the income standard.
